About Magic Balloon Child Care Centre

Our Story

Magic Balloon Child Care Centre first opened its doors in 1989.  It is a non-profit Centre serving children 18 months to 12 years old.

When Magic Balloon first opened its doors in 1989 it was originally started by a group of Francophone parents as a French child care, “Garderie La Montgolfiere”, located on the Main St. in Newmarket.  Upon moving to our current location at St. Nicholas CES in 1993, the Centre was then renamed and became an English-speaking Centre.  The child care and the school work together to ensure a positive rapport between the two facilities.

Being Non-Profit, the Centre relies on a Volunteer Board that consists of parents and individuals from our surrounding community.

Magic Balloon accepts children and families from all over, not just those attending St. Nicholas CES.  We also have a purchase of service agreement with York Region for those families accessing subsidized care.

Magic Balloon has a full time cook on site.  Our four-week menu is posted for all parents to see. Children are served nutritious meals and snacks prepared by our cook.  Canada’s food guide is followed to ensure dietary health is being met. Any special dietary requirements must be discussed with the Supervisor prior to your start date.

Once your child has been registered you become an important part of the Centre. We rely on our families for such things as fundraising, general maintenance and upkeep as well as advocating in the community for the Centre, and childcare as a whole.  Your input is always valued and appreciated.
